Little did I know about the history of St. Peter’s Basilica. The marble used to create the church was taken from the Roman Colosseum and Forum in the early 1500s. Of course, the basilica that stood before this one was robbed of gold and silver in the tomb. If you take a trip to Rome, I highly recommend taking a tour from an Italian history or archeology student.
